Proposed Disciplines and regulations for Collegiate Kiteboarding Association Events

Collegiate Kitebarding


- Each team will consist of 4 team riders but can have an unlimited amount of substitute riders in the case of a team rider not being able to make an event or due to injury.
- Each team rider can be either sex but must be in college.
- Each tea will have a team manager/spokes person.


Course Racing:

- Will run this just like any other course race with all teams racing at the same time and rules.
- Starting lines will not be limited to on the water, beach starts will be allowed if approved by the association at certain locations.
- Each course will consist of 2 laps not one.
- All courses will have 2 mandatary jumps, one port, one starboard.
- Each team members finishing position will count as points to their team.
- If a team does not have all 4 riders each rider they are missing will score the maximum amount of points for that race.


Distance/Endurance Racing

- Will run this just like any other course race with all teams racing at the same time and rules.
- Starting lines will not be limited to on the water, beach starts will be allowed if approved by the association at certain locations.

- If a team does not have all 4 riders each rider they are missing will score the maximum amount of points for that race.


Freestyle/Best Trick

- All course racing college events must be accompanied by freestyle/best trick but optional at distance races.
- Dependant on the amount of colleges present it will be decided on the day of the event on the amount of athletes each college can participate with a maximum of 5 per college.
- Each heat will consist of a maximum of 15 riders and 25 minute heats.
- If more than 1 heat a final will be run with a maximum of 10 riders with a 15 minute heat.
- Riders will be judged individually and not as a team on overall impression and best trick.
- There will be one head judge that must be approved by the association, at each event not related to any college and will be the responsibility of them to provide a minimum of 2 other non-biased judges.
- There will be ne winner that will take back the trophy for their school.



- There will be an entrance fee for each team at all events, to be determined.
- There will be a set amount of events that will count as points that will be totaled with the points at the finals in Corpus Christy.
- Each team must supply the own distinct college riding jerseys, approved by the association.
- No cash prizes for colleges but equipment may be awarded to the club.
- Trophies will be awarded but there will be one main trophy at the finals in Corpus.
- Any questions, discrepancies must be addressed to the association by the team captain.
- All teams and captains must be registered with the association.
